Stocky alternative for Shopify inventory (2026)

Stocky was removed from the Shopify App Store on February 2, 2026, and Shopify shut the app and its APIs down completely on August 31, 2026.

If you ran your purchase orders, receiving and cost tracking in Stocky, the replacement you pick matters more than most app decisions — inventory data compounds, and a year of cost history is hard to rebuild by hand.

What happened to Stocky

Shopify's native inventory tools cover stock levels and basic adjustments, but they are not at feature parity with Stocky for purchase order workflows and cost tracking. Most former Stocky merchants end up looking at a dedicated inventory app again.

What you lose when Stocky goes away

  1. Purchase orders. Multi-line POs grouped by supplier, ready to export as PDF or email to a supplier, and marked as sent so you can tell drafts from orders.
  2. Receiving. Recording what actually arrived — including partial deliveries — and having stock levels update in Shopify immediately.
  3. Dated cost history. Stocky kept what you paid over time. Shopify's built-in "cost per item" field is a single number: the moment you update it, the old value is gone.
  4. Reorder decisions. Which SKUs to order, how many, and why — based on sales velocity, supplier lead times and what's already on hand.

If you also tracked supplier invoices or wanted to see true order-level margins, those workflows typically leave with Stocky too.

What to look for in a Stocky alternative

How ShelfRestock covers the Stocky workflow

ShelfRestock is an inventory app built for small and growing Shopify merchants — deliberately closer to Stocky's practical tools than to an enterprise ERP. Here's the mapping:

Stocky workflowIn ShelfRestock
Reorder suggestionsA reorder list where every number shows its formula (velocity × lead time + buffer − on hand, rounded to pack size and MOQ)
Purchase ordersCreate POs from the reorder list, download a PDF, mark as sent, or auto-draft POs for review
ReceivingRecord partial deliveries, write stock back to Shopify, and create a dated cost layer per delivery
Cost trackingDated cost history with weighted average, cost trend reports, and late-invoice adjustments with an audit trail
Landed costsSplit freight, duty and other extras across a shipment — by value, quantity, weight or volume — with exact per-unit costs
Supplier managementSuppliers, lead times, price lists (unit cost, MOQ, case pack)
ReportingCSV exports for reorder lists, POs, cost history, and supplier invoice aging; Xero/QuickBooks bill exports on the Growth plan
Beyond StockySupplier payables with aging buckets, order-level true margin, multi-location transfer suggestions

Migrating from Stocky: the built-in setup wizard imports your Stocky supplier list, lead times, price list and purchase order history (the standard Stocky PO CSV), so your cost history doesn't start from zero.

FAQ

Is Stocky coming back?

No. Shopify has confirmed the shutdown — the app and its APIs stopped working on August 31, 2026.

Can I import my Stocky purchase order history?

Yes. ShelfRestock's setup wizard accepts the Stocky PO CSV export and turns it into dated cost history. You can also import suppliers and price lists from CSV.

Does Shopify's built-in inventory work as a replacement?

For stock counts, mostly. For purchase orders, partial receiving and dated cost layers, you'll still want a dedicated app.

Do I need to share customer data?

No. ShelfRestock reads product, inventory and order line-item data (which variant sold, and how many) — it does not read or store customer names, emails or addresses.

How much does ShelfRestock cost?

Free for up to 100 SKUs, including a 90-day dated cost history and the explainable reorder list. Paid plans add unlimited SKUs, purchase orders, receiving, full cost history, email alerts and more.

ShelfRestock launches on the Shopify App Store soon.
